My first try at whole wheat tortillas

I decided to try a different recipe than the one I posted below. Success! Chad pronounced them "YUMMY like my wife." He mentioned several times that they don't fall apart, unlike the ones you buy from the store. I liked that they aren't full of preservatives and with an ingredient list a mile long full of words I don't understand.

I made them on the griddle with olive oil. Two got left on too long and were crispy but I ate them like crackers. Pretty good, actually. I bet they'd be good with honey and/or peanut butter.

We ate them tonight with cumin chicken, greens (either leftover salad fixings or sprouts), green onions and black olives. Chad also added cheese and sour cream. A hit!

Instructions

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3 TBL Olive Oil
Mix together flours and salt.  Add water, and oil. Mix together first with a spoon, then with your hands.  Once your dough is easy to handle, divide into 8 balls. Roll out as flat as possible.  Cook each rolled out dough on a hot griddle, browning both sides slightly.
